Your Value System and Decision Making

Value is a very ambiguous word. As a matter of fact, its ambiguity is closely associated with its relativity. From this concept, we begin to look at a form of dichotomy between the IDEAL and the REALITY. Looking deeper though, in the complexity of their differences, one could still string up a relationship between them. Cutting to the chase now, it is your definition of your values that paints up your ideal world which you try to emphasize in the real world through your decisions.

Values definition or identification marauds around your belief system. Your assessment of what is good or evil; right or wrong. It is quite a cumbersome cognitive relativity that could paint the world in different colours. At this level as youngies, it is aptly relevant to your Self Discovery.

Decision making is an everyday task which requires a higher level of evaluation rather than just knowledge. Life throws questions perpetually and you need to provide answers asap because the time factor does not lapse for you. You must try to catch up.

Now, there are three things; Values, Decisions and Time. Three important ingredients for life direction.

Value is the first thing you must put in perspective. Why do we have a corrupt world? Why do we have imbalances everywhere? Why are people hungry and some others buoyant? All these point to values and beliefs. How? The first thing you must understand is that Values are relative to the person believing in them. It is majorly an individual thing. Thus, in complexity and controversy, there may be no good value or bad value. What is good to you is good and so is what is bad, depending on how you see your ideal world. This to a large extent, is the thinking of many young people in this age and so, the world continues to plummet into a nadir of abysmal normality.

The world is complex but there are standards in place, cogent, inbuilt and basic values for good and bad on which the world revolves. Every other values degenerate from these. There may be no good or bad in relation at an individual level but there is good and bad in the real world. There are adverse effects of decisions taken as well as profitable ones. You have to measure your values by the effects of your decisions.

Now, decision making is vital. What you do must have a purpose which is reflected in value. Your decision to avoid examination malpractice, smoking, drinking, premarital sex,or even the secret cult is a result of your values which has been formed on some experiences perhaps. It is clear to you that doing these things can affect the future adversely even when those engaging in them now seen to be at the top of their world and you, a far cry. Time will tell.

Yes time because time and chance happens to everything. Yes because due to time, people have reweighed their values and changed their decisions. Sometimes it takes longer to achieve what is worthwhile. You cannot get the very best by cutting corners and being economical with what is right. You need to put the time in and wait for the fruition. With time comes the virtue of patience. This is key.  Yea,there are others at the seeming top, doing things that negate your positive values but seem to be making it as well as other things that would make you ask yourself questions. However, you must remember it is your life just as it's theirs. Maybe they can defend their values and decisions but, would you be able to do same if you ditch yours for the theirs?

It is important to understand that your values must have deep connection with your decisions for purpose and clarity in direction. There lies yourself.
